COVID-19 UPDATE
The COVID-19 crisis is
continuing to affect us all, and the coming
months are still filled with uncertainty, in the
UK and around the world. Lockdown may be
starting to ease across the country, however
social distancing will continue for the
foreseeable future; mass gatherings will not be
possible or practical; and the elderly and those
with health conditions will need to continue to
shield.
As a result, the BCCS Committee has taken the
difficult decision to cancel the annual
Convention, which was scheduled for 10th October
at the Hilton Doubletree Reading.
Any members who had already booked tickets will
have their fees refunded.

The Committee has come up with a
package of exceptional measures as a
gesture to compensate for the cancellation
of this year’s main event:
MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY
Members who have renewed / joined will be
contacted by email to ask whether they would
like to be included in a BCCS Membership
Directory. This will be produced as a
booklet in electronic format and emailed
only to those who have opted in. It will
help all of us, particularly at this
challenging time, to network and reach out
to fellow members with similar collecting
interests.
EXHIBITION CATALOGUE
Even though the Convention and exhibition
will not be physically taking place this
year, in honour of the BCCS's 25th
anniversary, there will still be a
full-colour catalogue, and its theme will be
'Celebrations'. It will be produced in
electronic format and emailed (for those not
on email, a hard copy will be posted). Extra
hard copies will also be available for
members to purchase.
FACE FACTS NEWSLETTER
There will be a special 25th Anniversary
issue of the Face Facts newsletter produced,
separate to the Winter issue.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Those who have attended past Conventions
will know that there is always an AGM
included - which can distract from buying,
selling and chatting! The current
circumstances have led to a decision to move
this year's meeting to March 2021. Members
will be notified in advance of the date and
method/venue if they wish to join. At that
meeting, there will be an option to vote for
the AGM to be held separately from the
Convention in future.
ANNUAL CONVENTION 2021
The Hilton Doubletree Reading has agreed to
postpone the event booking for the
Convention to Saturday 9th October 2021
(Save The Date!), and the planned speakers
have also agreed to reschedule. Further
details / booking information will be
provided closer to the time.
We hope that you, your
family and friends stay safe and well,
and that the current restrictions are
allowing you some extra time with your
compact collections!
